REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY
Therapeutic Massage is a relaxing full-body massage that soothes and relaxes tense and contracted muscles, caused from accident or injury, surgery, headaches, fibromyalgia, arthritis, scoliosis, and terminal illness. It also increases circulation, tones muscular and nervous systems, and triggers the release of beneficial chemicals called neuro-peptides that alleviate pain and induce more rapid healing. Massage Therapy also encourages structural re-alignment to restore joint function, regulates the digestive tract to improve digestion and stimulate the immune system, and helps expel metabolic toxins that pose significant health risks, reduces edema and induce lymph drainage, improves breathing and respiratory efficiency by loosening mucus, and increasing chest expansion. It heightens your body awareness and releases tension and alleviates feelings of stress, anxiety and depression, making you feel happy and relaxed. Registered massage therapy can help a number of conditions, including:
stress and stress-related conditions
muscle and joint pain
back, leg or neck pain

CONTEMPORARY MEDICAL ACUPUNCTURE
Classical Acupuncture originated in Asia as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has been used successfully for thousands of years without western scientific explanation. However, in recent years the scientific communities of North America and Europe have begun to study acupuncture to better understand and explain its amazing effectiveness. This has resulted in a growing body of high quality, evidence-based research proving the astounding effectiveness of acupuncture
“Medical” acupuncture refers to acupuncture taught to regulated Health Care Professionals (such as Registered Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Dentists, and Medical Doctors). Training is based on the existing familiarity these health professionals already have with anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
A highly precise therapy, Acupuncture promotes natural healing, reduces or relieves pain, activates your immune system, and prompts the self-regulating systems of your body. It does this by applying very precise stimulation to any of more than 1000 points on your body where neural pathways pass close to the skin.
Very fine sterile needles are inserted through your skin surface to connect with your neural pathways. Energy impulses are instantly transmitted along the neural pathway, triggering the release of important chemicals called neuro-peptides, including pain-dampening neuro-peptides called “endorphins.”
Endorphins are natural opiates that help to block pain messages from your body to your brain. They make you feel euphoric. This results in the relief of pain, general relaxation and restoration of the body’s own regulation systems. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture stimulates the healing abilities of the body to reduce inflammation, while it heightens physical and emotional well-being.
Acupuncture is highly effective for chronic and hard-to-diagnose illnesses, immune deficiency, an over-taxed nervous system, and addictions. It has proven beneficial for:
neck, shoulder,and back pain
joint pain and stiffness
tennis and golfers elbow
carpal tunnel syndrome
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are made of stainless steel and are so fine that 2-3 Acupuncture needles would fit inside the hollow barrel of a regular needle. Some people feel slight discomfort as the needles are inserted. Once the needles are in place there may be feelings of tingling, or heaviness. This is called “Da-Chi”. Which indicates that the energy impulses or”Chi” ( life-force) in that area is flowing once again. Sometimes there is no sensation. This does not mean that the treatment is not having the desired effect.
Are there risks or adverse effects with Acupuncture?
NO. There is almost a complete absence of adverse effects or complications from the use of Acupuncture. We use sterile, one-use, disposable, stainless steel needles to prevent risk of infection. Clients with pacemakers are not given electroacupuncture. Pregnant women, people with hemophilia, or those who take blood thinners are treated with caution.
How many Acupuncture treatments will be required?
The number of sessions will vary depending on the health issue. Only a few treatments may be required for acute problems. For long-standing conditions, 1 or 2 treatments per week for several weeks may be advised, with less frequent treatments as the condition improves.
Treatment sessions are usually 30 minutes in total. The relief of pain and stiffness may be felt in a few days, hours, or immediately
Fees: 30 min. – $55, 1 hr – $85
Fees include GST.
Missed appointments will be billed in full unless 24 hour’s notice is given. Special rates for seniors and students
DO save your receipts for income tax purposes. Acupuncture may qualify as an additional health care cost
